Cheltenham: John Lee, no date [c. 1834]. First edition (hardback). 16mo (17cm by 11cm), 319pp, 1pp errata, v [index], 1pp adverts. Folding plan of Cheltenham, folding map of the environs of Cheltenham, both mounted on cloth. Bound as issued in printed green boards, green cloth backstrip. The joints have split (and have been repaired), there are a few small inkspots to the front board, some light foxing of the maps, contents good to very good. Overall, this copy is in good condition. A rare guide in any edition; this copy collates as the first edition (and later editions are indicated as such on the title page).

A catalogue of 116 Oriental manuscripts from the collection of John Lee of Hartwell House, 1783-1866. "The principal part of the books described in this catalogue was purchased at Aleppo and Damascus, in the years 1811 and 1812, many of them by the assistance and recommendation of the late Mr. J. L. Burckhardt. The rest was procured at Cairo or Constantinople."—Introduction.
